Ever heard of Majestic Casual on Youtube? Looking for some new music for your every day playlist? Let me introduce you to Colors. Thank me later.

COLORS is an independent Youtube Channel made by some geniuses from Berlin, Germany. This channel uploads weekly live performance shows of talented musicians from all around the world. Folk, funk, to hip hop is well proportioned on the channel. So, if you are starting to get real sick of Dua Lipa's New Rules, Ed Sheeran's Perfect, or any Taylor Swift song on the Top 40 chart, I got your back.
I suddenly remember the day I would go on 8tracks to discover more "unpopular" music to establish my identity as a so-called hipster. I'm kidding, I actually enjoyed these songs. After Spotify came to the market, everyone around me just started leaving 8tracks one by one. So, as an early adaptor, I jumped into the bandwagon.
My Spotify days weren't as exciting, maybe I just haven't get the feel. I started listening to KPop as well, so my western music vocabulary got weaker by nature. Yes, I subscribed to Majestic Casual and still checks it out frequently, but it got boring sometimes.
Then, I found a COLORS video on my Youtube recommendation and I am so glad to have clicked on it. It was DEAN's love performance. What's so refreshing about this channel is how every artists has their own style and genre, with amusing sense of fashion, and accompanied with full colored background to add to the aesthetic. Beautiful.
To aid your curiosity, below are some of my favorite COLORS Show. By favorites doesn't mean they're the best on the channel, it's just up to my taste.
1. DEan - love
As I have mentioned earlier, this was my very first COLORS video. His performance has a great vibe to it, with smooth adlibs and cute little dancing there. DEAN has always got that talent of luring you into the moment with his velvety voice, it's almost hypnotizing.
2. billie eilish - watch
Billie is one of my greatest music findings in 2017. Her mature style—both looks and music—would lead you thinking that she is older than her actual age, which is still a blooming fifteen years old. For a fun fact, this talented girl had participated for the soundtrack of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why with her single, Bored.
3. GOLDLINK - ROUGH SOUL
He must be one of my most favorite rapper of all time, hands down. Sick flow and great beat as well, accompanied with April George's soulful voice on the chorus. He seems like a chill guy and lowkey, but apparently he just got a Grammy nomination for his song, Crew.
4. mahalia - sober
This English singer and actress first signed to a label at the age of thirteen. I can't help but sway along her fun and enjoyable attitude. Quoting a comment from the video, "like Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu had a kid," I just have to agree on that. She brings the rich oldie R&B style back and I'm all about it.
5. Anne-Marie - Alarm
You might have known her from Clean Bandit's hit single, Rockabye. Standing on her own like this really accentuate her strong vocals. Not gonna lie, she reminds me of Adele at some parts, but that's probably just me trying to compare. Her color and timbre makes me want to close my eyes and just listen.
6. Jakob Ogawa - Let It Pass
So relaxing and calming, I almost drifted off to slumber—an aftermath of finals week—to his soothing high notes. It's got that indie folk feel to it, as I imagined an acoustic guitar accompaniment, but I wouldn't change the electric guitar for anything as it adds the touch that made it sound just right.
7. RAY BLK - My Hood
If someone tells me that this is performed live, I would laugh at them, because there is no way she would sound that good. She is bold and smooth at the same time, delivering steady tunes until the last note. A charming voice and tasteful synth, perfect!
8. kidsoul - playing games
Groovy beat? Check. Sick rap? Check. Suave singing? All aboard. Performing his first single, Kidsoul got me speechless with a flawless transition from rap to melodies. I don't know how to explain, just watch and listen for yourself.
9. Jessie Reyez - Figures
Excuse my wet eyes because this got me emotional as hell. Her rough-around-the-edges vocals sound so nice with the guitar, how she gave a it all raw just the way it is gave me chills. Such a beautiful soaring expression of heartache and exasperation.
There goes my treasured list of discovery, check them out for your own good and let me know if you like what you hear.
Until next time!
I just realized I needed this yt account in my life! Thank you for introducing me to them! I love your site xoxo
